The Wipro team first
conducted an 'as-is analysis' of the existing testing
practices to identify major gaps in the existing system.
Over 33 practitioners were met and inputs taken from
them to assess the existing processes and practices.
The Wipro team evolved a new testing process framework.
In doing this, the Wipro team followed the principle
of defect management which looks at early detect detection
and pro-active detect prevention. The solution focused
on capture of defects early in the development life
cycle.
The team included several best practices while defining
the new testing process framework. Guidelines were defined
for unit testing and integration testing with clear entry
and exit criteria, activities to be performed and the
roles & responsibilities of practitioners during verification
and validation. Defect prevention activities were defined
to facilitate early error detection and containment. The
team prepared dashboards for monitoring project progress,
performance of testing during each of the release cycles
and the training that the practitioners underwent. |
